We are thrilled to have the esteemed Yayoi Ban join our ballet faculty! With an illustrious career spanning nearly two decades, Yayoi Ban has been a prominent figure in the ballet world, serving as a first soloist for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet company for the last 19 years until her recent retirement this past spring. Yayoi is originally from Japan, where she trained at the Rei Classical Ballet Institute and the Momoka Tani Ballet before joining the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
Throughout her distinguished career, Yayoi has graced the stage in a multitude of classical ballets, captivating audiences with her performances in iconic productions such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, A Cinderella Story, Dracula, Peter Pan, and The Four Seasons, to name just a few. In addition to classical ballets, she has also performed in contemporary works such as Vespers, Hikarizatto, Carmina Burana, and Quantz by Quantz, where she brought modern choreographic visions to life.
In addition to her remarkable stage career, Yayoi has dedicated herself to the art of teaching, offering Master classes both domestically and internationally. Her commitment to nurturing the next generation of dancers is unwavering, and she is eager to share her extensive knowledge, profound love for ballet, and rich experiences with our students.
